I’ve been practicing general dentistry in Truckee for more than 25 years, with an emphasis on preventive, natural, aesthetic, and advanced restorative care. My highest priority is delivering personal care in a warm, welcoming, and supportive environment. I love our community and am honored to serve the families who live here.
Education and Continuing Education
My undergraduate degree was awarded by the University of Southern California; my Doctorate of Dental Surgery is from Northwestern University. I’m currently a clinical instructor at the Kois Center in Seattle, WA. The Kois Center is a world leader for continuing education in restorative dentistry. Being involved has guaranteed that I am a current leader in dental advances.
Dr. Delaney and I are committed to constant and never-ending improvement. I enjoy the continually evolving art and science of dentistry. In order to provide optimum care and service for our patients, I have completed 100's of hours of continuing education. These courses include lectures as well as hands-on workshops that enhance my skills and knowledge.
As part of my continuing education, I’ve been honored to receive the following accreditations:
- Fellow, Academy of General Dentistry
- Member, International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology
- Distinguished Mentor, Creating Restorative Excellence
- Fellowship in Implantology
- Fellow, Institute of Natural Dentistry
- Member, College of Sedation in Dentistry
- Past president, Northern California Academy of Dental Research
- Graduate, LVI Global and the Pankey Institute
Achieving fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is one of the few added distinctions a general dentist can achieve. The AGD is the only professional association that exclusively serves the needs and interests of the general dentist.
To earn fellowship in the AGD, a dentist must complete more than 500 hours of educational courses in various disciplines. Candidates must also pass a rigorous exam. I am pleased to be part of the seventeen percent of general dentists that have achieved this honor.
In addition to these achievements, I’m a member of many dental organizations, including the:
- American Dental Association
- International Association of Mercury Free Dentists
- American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry
I’ve a great passion for dentistry and compassion for our patients. I strive to be a leader in natural dentistry. I’ve been practicing mercury-free and have offered mercury-safe dentistry for more than 25 years. I’ve been accredited by the International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology, which sets the protocols for safe mercury removal.
My wife Debbie and I have three children, two daughters-in-law, and two granddaughters. You may see the name Colpitts elsewhere, because our son Michael, a chiropractor, and daughter Cathy, a physician, also practice in Truckee. We love spending time with our family and enjoy many outdoor activities. I especially like alpine and nordic skiing, mountain biking, water skiing, golfing, and surfing.
